Ross is the firm principal of Colthorpe Lawyers. As a barrister and solicitor he started his own office at Christies Beach in 2003 after working for other reputable criminal law firms in Adelaide. He completed his Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice at Flinders University, passing with honours and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia, all Federal courts and the High Court of Australia. He is a current member of the Law Society.
Ross Colthorpe is accredited by the Legal Services Commission of South Australia to be both solicitor and barrister in complex criminal matters.
Colthorpe Lawyers has been the sponsor for the Flinders University Students witness examination competition for the past six years and Ross actively participates in the judging of the competition.
Ross prides himself on fighting for the rights of the defendant. People facing the criminal justice system for the first time can easily be overwhelmed by the enormity and complexity of it all. Helping people through that process and bring the best possible outcome for the client is one of the highest priorities in his business.
Ross is dedicated to ensure that people wrongfully charged are given the best opportunity to clear their name or to making sure guilty pleas are only entered once all possible defences have been explored and that only appropriate charges are conceded.
